Let’s be honest: you’re not here because you already have perfect skin. Right now, you’re probably dealing with unsightly blemishes and asking yourself, “Why me? Why is my skin such a mess? Is there a good way to get rid of acne? If so, what’s the best way to get rid of acne?” You’re not alone. I was blessed with thick, shiny hair — and equally shiny skin. Lucky me, right? Anyway, I’m not a doctor or anything, but I’ll be happy to tell you how I get rid of my acne.
NUTRITION
You’ve probably heard that chocolate, pizza and other unhealthy foods cause acne. Research on diet and acne is fairly inconsistent, so it’s hard to know what to believe. Personally, I’ve found that eating well is the easiest way to get rid of acne. I hate to admit this, but I used to devour a delicious candy bar and a diet soda for breakfast each day. Now I have a mug of hot tea and one or two pieces of fresh fruit. I also drink plenty of water. These small dietary changes have made quite a difference in a short period of time. I look better — and I feel better, too.
EXERCISE
I think that changing your diet is the easiest way to get rid of acne, but making an effort to exercise each day is also important. Exercise keeps your body working the way that it’s supposed to — and that includes your skin. Need proof? Take a look at your fellow gym-goers next time you’re panting away on the treadmill. Do most of them have acne? No. If there’s a particular method that happens to be the best way to get rid of acne, most of them are probably in on the secret.
STRESS MANAGEMENT
Studies have shown that stress is a major factor when it comes to clear, blemish-free skin. You may not be able to eliminate all of the stress in your life, but you can change how you react to it. Next time your mom snaps at you about something silly, remember that she’s actually angry at herself, not you. When your boss criticizes every single task you complete, remind yourself that you’re a good employee and that you’re doing your best. If you have a cheating boyfriend or a manipulative best friend, accept that they will never change and ask yourself if you really need them in your life.
MAKEUP REMOVAL
There are lots of good, easy ways to get clear skin — but makeup removal is probably the best way to get rid of acne. Sounds easy enough, right? Hardly. At the end of a long day of work or a fun night out with friends, the last thing most of us feel like doing is washing our face. Don’t crash on the couch just yet, though. Wash your face with a good cleanser, then use an astringent or toner. Moisturizer is also important, even if your skin is oily.
